A wooden piece of furniture that regains its lustre, a leather armchair that retains its suppleness, a lamp that shines as bright as new… Vintage is made to last, as long as you give it a little love!<\/strong> You don’t need to be a restoration expert: a few simple steps are enough to preserve its charm without distorting it. Here are my best tips for pampering your finds and keeping them in top shape!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Vintage wooden furniture is sure to add character, but it still needs to be properly maintained!
\u2714 Dust regularly<\/strong> with a soft cloth (forget harsh chemicals!).
\u2714 Revive the patina <\/strong>with Arbanite<\/strong>: A real little miracle for nourishing the wood, reviving its colour and eliminating dirty wax.<\/p>\n

\u2714 Want to give it a facelift<\/strong>? A little linseed oil or beeswax and hey presto, your furniture is restored to its former glory.
\u2714 Stubborn stains<\/strong>? Bicarbonate of soda and water on untreated wood, soft soap on varnished wood.
\u2714 Watch out for the whims of wood!<\/strong> Too close to a radiator and it dries out and cracks. Too much direct sunlight and it can fade. We keep it away from extremes!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2714 Moisturise regularly<\/strong> with a special leather milk or a drop of sweet almond oil.
\u2714 Too dry?<\/strong> A good nourishing treatment will restore its suppleness.
\u2714 Damaged or discoloured areas? <\/strong>A pigmented renovating cream can even out the colour and mask small imperfections.
\u2714 Leather hates direct sunlight<\/strong>, which dries it out and causes it to crack. Keep it out of the sun!<\/strong> <\/p>\n

\u2714 Chipped chrome? <\/strong>Don’t panic! You can remove it without scratching it using some ultra-fine steel wool.
\u2714 Want it to shine<\/strong>? A quick polish and it’s as good as new! <\/p>\n

\u2714 Yellowing? <\/strong>Try the retrobright method: a hydrogen peroxide bath + a little sun to restore its original shine.<\/p>\n

\u2714 Small scratches?<\/strong> Car polish can effectively reduce them.
\u2714 Be careful with aggressive solvents<\/strong>, which can make the plastic porous. Take it easy!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2714 Always check the wiring before plugging in<\/strong> (vintage wires are pretty but sometimes dangerous!).
\u2714 Replace old wires if necessary<\/strong>, especially if they are frayed or cracked.
\u2714 If in doubt, have the wiring redone by a professional<\/strong>.
\u2714 LED bulbs are your allies: they heat up less (plastic can melt!) and preserve vintage materials.<\/p>\n
